This recipe for lasagna stuffed shells is an easy one-skillet dinner recipe made with jumbo shells stuffed with classic lasagna ingredients and baked in the oven.
Ingredients
- 12oz jumbo shells
- 1lb ground beef
- ¼ cup finely diced onion
- 1.5 Tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1.5 Tablespoons Italian seasoning
- 16oz ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 24oz jar marinara sauce
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
- Add water to a large pot and bring to a boil on the stovetop.
- Once the water comes to a boil, add the jumbo shells.
- Boil the shells according to the package instructions, but remove from the stovetop and drain the noodles 1-2 minutes earlier than the package instructs.
- Add the ground beef, diced onion and minced garlic to the cast iron skillet and brown the beef.
- In a separate medium-size bowl, add the ricotta and egg and whisk to combine.
- Once the beef is browned, add the browned beef, Italian seasoning and salt to the bowl with the ricotta and stir to combine.
- Pour half of the pasta sauce to the skillet the beef was browned in.
- Stuff each jumbo shell with the beef and ricotta mixture.
- Place the stuffed shells in the cast iron skillet on top of the pasta sauce.
- Continue to stuff the shells to fill the skillet with stuffed shells.
- Pour the remaining pasta sauce over the stuffed shells.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- Place the skillet in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese melts completely.
- Remove the skillet from the oven and allow to set for 3-5 minutes before serving.
