Expert Tips & Variations
- Grind the oats into flour. We love using oats in this recipe because it is a pantry staple we always have on hand, but whole oats give the meatloaf a weird texture. Use a blender or food processor to grind the oats into flour so the meatloaf has a good texture.
- Make venison meatloaf. We love using ground venison in this recipe during hunting season. You can replace all of the ground beef with ground venison or do a 50/50 mixture of beef and venison.
- Add a little heat. Add a little extra flavor and spice to the recipe by adding 2 Tablespoons to ¼ cup of hot sauce to the meatloaf mixture before cooking it in the oven.
How to Store Gluten-Free Meatloaf
- Refrigerator - In an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Freezer - In an airtight container for up to 3 months. We recommend cutting the meatloaf into slices then storing each slice in its own bag. This allows for you to easily remove and heat up single servings from the freezer for a quick meal or easy meal prep.
Recipe FAQ
You can use gluten-free bread crumbs or gluten-free flour in place of oats in this recipe. We recommend using oats blended into oat flour, because oats are a pantry staple we always have on hand, plus they have good nutritional value.
